llusion d' amour: Songs for an abysmal voice with Gabriele Banko
On the cello: Lynda Cortis - on the piano: Monika Arnold
And because man longs for more love than he has, he writes love poems and love songs. And they are often most beautiful when they feed on illusions. But the most haunting are those that strike a chord with our vulnerability and our inadequacy.
Gabriele Banko interprets chansons by Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand and Jacques Prèvert, as well as songs once sung by Dalida and Knef, through to songs by Paolo Conte, Astor Piazolla and Cole Porter.
Lynda Cortis on cello and Monika Arnold on piano also contribute instrumental works from film music by composers such as Ennio Morricone and Michel Legrand. In her moderations, poems and aphorisms, the singer approaches the subject of love, sometimes cheerfully, sometimes bitingly, in the field of tension between desire and reality.
