German Museum of Fairy Tales and Weser Legends

Short facts

  • Bad Oeynhausen

Fairy tale and Weser legend museum in a listed villa right next to the spa gardens.

The former home of the local politician, poet and town chronicler Paul Baehr was transferred to a foundation after his death in 1929. In 1973, the town of Bad Oeynhausen set up what was then Germany's only fairytale museum in this villa. Collections of fairy tales, legends and fables are still presented there today. The permanent exhibition explains who collected or wrote fairy tales and legends and what these stories are about. Temporary exhibitions on cultural and art historical aspects complete the offer.
