St. Kilianikirche

Short facts

  • Höxter

The church towers of different heights form the landmark of the town of Höxter

The oldest church building, the town's landmark, was built in the first third of the 12th century. A special feature are the towers of different heights. While the northern church tower is 48 m high, the southern town tower only reaches 45 m and used to serve as a watchtower and municipal archive.

An early mission church on this site is already attested around the year 800. The precious Renaissance pulpit from 1597 shows the four virtues of wisdom, justice, bravery and temperance on the alabaster spandrel relief.
