Bremer Stadtmusikanten

Well Worth Seeing
The Bremen Town Musicians are probably Bremen's best-known landmark. The fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm is over 200 years old, in which the donkey, dog, cat and cockerel set off for the beautiful city on the Weser to find a better life.
They have found their place at the foot of Bremer Rathaus: the Bremen Town Musicians. In 1951, the small but no less fine statue by German sculptor Gerhard Marcks was erected in the heart of Bremen's city centre and still delights numerous visitors every day. A photo with the four stacked animals from the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm is a must when visiting the Hanseatic city. There is also a widespread belief that it brings good luck to embrace the donkey's two front legs. So it's no wonder that the long-eared donkey's shackles sparkle brightly.

Centrally located in Bremen's city centre, the Bremen Town Musicians are a wonderful starting point for further exploration of the city. Many other, particularly well-known sights are just a few steps away. Whether it's the town hall, Roland, Schnoor or Böttcherstraße - the city of short distances is perfect for exploring on foot. It's worth keeping your eyes peeled on the way: The stacked animals that have made Bremen famous around the world can be spotted in numerous places in the city. Whether on walls, signs or fountains - donkeys, dogs, cats and cockerels have left their mark in many places.
