How to get here
In the Brothers Grimm City of Hanau, the birthplace of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the German Fairy Tale Route begins. Its official starting point is the impressive monument to the two brothers on Neustadt Market Square.
From here, this unique route leads via five further places where the famous brothers lived and worked, as well as more than fifty fairy-tale and legendary locations, all the way to Bremen. There, the statue of the Bremen Town Musicians in front of the Ratskeller marks the end of the journey.
Along the way – and on a final detour to Buxtehude – the route passes through diverse landscapes, quiet villages, charming half-timbered towns, and vibrant cultural centers, including the GrimmHeimat North Hesse. Legendary castles and enchanting palaces, mysterious forests and the well-known River Weser, mythical sites and countless fairy-tale fountains line the path.
