Fuldaaue recreation area with Buga Lake

Short facts

  • Kassel

The large nature reserve of the Fuldaaue with the Buga lake is only a few minutes away from the city centre. The expansive landscape makes you forget that you are in the middle of the city. There are many opportunities for sports and recreation.

Swimming fun and many other recreational opportunities

Admission is free, the shore freely accessible at all times. The area around the Buga Lake is a popular excursion destination for the whole region. In summer, the focus is on swimming fun. The lake is a natural body of water in which you can swim at your own risk and on your own responsibility in the areas approved for this purpose. Warning signs and display cases around the lake inform swimmers of the dangers of bathing in natural waters; the rules of conduct listed there have been agreed with the DLRG. In addition to the sandy beaches, which are particularly suitable for families with children, there is a separate area for naturists on the south-western shore.
