Wallenstein Castle Ruin - Burgruine Wallenstein

Short facts

  • Knüllwald

In the footsteps of the counts and knights of Wallenstein

In the middle of the Knüllwald, on a spur below the mountain Babloh, lies the castle ruin Wallenstein. In the Middle Ages, the castle must have looked like a fortress and impregnable, because outside the castle walls there is a steep downhill slope on three sides. Today, the castle ruins form the backdrop for rustic camping adventures: camping in the castle or in the castle courtyard, swimming in the charming natural swimming pool and fishing in the castle pond are all possible here. Below the castle there is a camping site, which is also open to permanent campers. The restaurant offers fresh, regional cuisine and hosts fairy-tale evenings when the illuminated castle becomes an eye-catcher.

Experiences:

Camping and swimming ∙ Northern Hesse Summer of Culture events ∙ Castle tours ∙ Cool camping in the castle courtyard ∙ Medieval camp ∙ Music events ∙ Fairytale weddings.

Opening hours:

The natural swimming pool is open from April 1 - October 31.
