The Youth World Music Orchestra (directed by Dr Ulli Götte) is a special project that combines educational and artistic work. It is a 25-member youth world ensemble that deals with music from the cultures of the world.
The members of this ensemble are young and already well-trained musicians between the ages of 15 and 28 who come from different countries and study music in Germany. The repertoire includes African, Indian, South American and Indian music as well as jazz, rock, pop, Western European classical music, European folklore and new music. A French dance song, a traditional piece from Turkey, a violin concerto by Antonio Vivaldi, a song by the band "Red Hot Chili Peppers" and a minimalist film score by the English composer Michael Nyman stand side by side in this unusual programme.
The result is an extremely varied spectrum from the world of music, from the cultures of the world.
