The museum is dedicated to the life, work and impact of the Brothers Grimm.

The Brothers Grimm House Museum and former official residence, the Brothers Grimm House Steinau since 1998, was the residence of the Grimm family from 1791-1796.

The Brothers Grimm are among the most important intellectual personalities in German and European cultural history. They are regarded as the founders of German studies and achieved world fame with their collection of children's and house fairy tales.

The museum uses interactive means to present the life, work and world-famous fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and brings them to life in a sensory way. Visitors can see, hear and feel the fairy tales and immerse themselves in the colourful world of children's and household tales. The modern and attractively furnished museum awakens childhood memories and brings the fairy tales of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm back to life.
