Start of the water games

The starting point of the water games is at the foot of the octagon, on which Hercules is enthroned. Two horseshoe-shaped water staircases enclose the grotto complex. Here the water arts begin with the fountains in the artichoke pool and the crooked cascades.

One level down, you reach the giant head pool. The stone head of the giant Encelados spouts a twelve-metre-high water fountain towards his conqueror Hercules.

There are figures in the niches on the left and right. On the left a "faun" and on the right a "centaur". With their horns they give the signal for the water arts to begin. Like the fountains, the sound of the horns is produced by natural water pressure. The signal can be heard far down in the park.
