Alongside the palace, Wilhelmshöhe Park is home to another gem, the Ballhaus. From the outside, the building appears rather plain. The magnificent interior with its large ballroom is therefore all the more astonishing. The Ballhaus is open for concerts and events.

The Ballhaus is located in the immediate vicinity of the northern wing of Wilhelmshöhe Palace in a small chestnut grove. The outwardly rather inconspicuous building turns out to be an artistically very valuable classicist gem on the inside.

The building monument was erected as a court theatre during the reign of Jérôme Bonaparte between 1808 and 1810 by the young Leo von Klenze. It was the first building by the later famous Munich architect. The magnificent interior was designed by the Kassel architect Johann Conrad Bromeis, who converted the theatre into a ballroom from 1828 to 1830, as Elector Wilhelm II had no use for the original building.

The ballroom is open to the public as part of the concert series "Culture under the Chandelier", during a guided tour or for special events.
