108 metres of unique red-brick buildings in Bremen's city centre never fail to delight travellers and locals alike: Böttcherstraße is one of the city's absolute must-sees. This architectural gem is thanks to the coffee merchant and inventor of the decaffeinated coffee HAG, Ludwig Roselius. He commissioned the artistic design at the beginning of the 20th century, giving the city a rare example of Expressionist architecture.
Listed as a listed building in its entirety since 1973, Böttcherstraße is now home to the Museen Böttchertstraße, arts and crafts workshops, restaurants and small souvenir shops and shops such as the Bremer Bonbon Manufaktur, which sweetens the day for its customers.
Among the architectural highlights are the Seven Lazy Fountains by Bernhard Hoetger, as well as the Haus des Glockenspiels, where 30 Meissen porcelain bells ring out from January to March at 12 noon, 3 pm and 6 pm and from April to December between 12 noon and 6 pm on the hour.
