The house where the poet Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen (1621 or 22–1676) was born is located on a rather steep, cobblestone street that leads directly to Gelnhausen's Untermarkt.

He is the most famous German narrator of the 17th century and was best known around the world for his eloquent work "The adventurous Simplicissimus Teutsch".

Gelnhausen can be easily reached by bus and train. The station is on line 50/51 between Frankfurt and Fulda. Line 46 of the Hessian State Railway also stops here from / to Gießen.

You can reach Gelnhausen by car via the direct motorway connection to the A66.

There are a large number of public parking spaces, from which the Grimmelshausen birthplace can be reached on foot in 5-10 minutes.
