Sleeping Beauty Castle Sababurg - an insider tip for fairytale fans and culture enthusiasts. It's a place you won't find anywhere else like it. It is the fairytale castle of the Brothers Grimm and impresses with its mighty location in the Reinhardswald forest in the Hofgeismar district of Sababurg.
The state of Hesse has been renovating Sababurg Castle as the owner since 2018. Before it can be fully reopened, extensive renovation work is still required from the building to the castle gardens. The Sleeping Beauty town of Hofgeismar in the Reinhardswald Nature Park is working with the state of Hesse to ensure that the enchanted grounds with the castle courtyard and sun terrace remain open during the extensive renovation work. They are also working on a fairytale event programme. For example, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming will stroll through the castle grounds at selected times.

The Sababurg can be reached by car. Access to the castle courtyard is not possible for cars. The car park is located below the castle (approx. 70m).
The local public transport bus line 190 takes you directly below the castle (bus stop "Dornröschenschloss"). From there you can walk the rest of the way.
Other bus stops are at the Sababurg Zoo and the Sababurg primeval forest.
