In town, the route leads along the Werre out of Bad Oeynhausen to the Weser cycle path, which is reached after a few kilometers. Now you cycle north again on the excellently prepared cycle path. The next highlight is the Weserpforte, where the river makes its way through the Weserbergland. At Porta Westfalica, the Kaiser Wilhelm monument, visible from afar, is a reminder of the river's breakthrough. Behind it, the North German Plain opens up.
For cyclists, this means that the stages are still exclusively flat. Minden is the next destination. The once flourishing trading town on the edge of the Weser Uplands was unfortunately badly destroyed in the Second World War, so that only one of the late medieval brick buildings remains. Minden is also known for its large waterway junction between the Weser and the Mittelland Canal. If you have time, you can watch the fascinating spectacle of the locks from a boat.

Continuing along the Weser Cycle Path, the river is crossed shortly before Petershagen. In Lahde, the route then branches off to Wiedensahl. Now follow the regional signposts over land to Wiedensahl, where Wilhelm Busch was born and lived and worked for a long time. In this typical Lower Saxon street village, you will come across the house where he was born, now a museum with many drawings and exhibits by the artist.

Further on in the village, there is another museum with the artist's studio and bedroom in the parish hall next to the church. His sister lived in this former vicarage as the vicar's wife. As there was enough space in the house, Wilhelm Busch was also able to live here at times.

Busch's stories were a novelty at the time, as he was also a talented painter and draughtsman and illustrated his texts himself. You could say that Busch was the inventor of the comic strip.

A 25 km long cycle route called the "Wilhelm Busch Route" leads around the village to Wilhelm Busch's places of inspiration. However, there are only a few guest beds available here. It may therefore be a good idea to look for accommodation in the districts of Rehburg-Loccum (e.g. in Loccum or Münchehagen).
