The sculpture depicts a giant who is still ready to throw a stone and is enchanted into a tree by the mighty forest spirit. At the foot of the Sensenstein is the adventure destination "Niester Giant".

According to the story that surrounds the trees, it is giants transformed by a forest spirit that Otto the Quade had sent to destroy Sensenstein Castle.
