Windmühle Bavenhausen

Short facts

  • Kalletal

Beautifully preserved windmill on the Windberg in Bavenhausen

High up on the Windberg is the windmill from 1853, which is now protected as an architectural monument. After grinding operations ceased in 1948, the inside of the mill has been used as an elevated reservoir for the water supply in the surrounding area since the mid-1950s. The mill can be seen from many points in the Kalle Valley, even in the dark evening hours thanks to its lighting, and is therefore a real landmark of the region.

The best way to reach the mill is on foot, for example on a hike around Bavenhausen and through the Teimer nature reserve. Up here is the ideal place for a rest and you can enjoy the picturesque view of Bavenhausen and the surrounding Lippe region.
