Fürstenberg Castle Museum

The MUSEUM SCHLOSS FÜRSTENBERG is located in the middle of the Weserbergland in the former hunting lodge of the Brunswick dukes and brings three centuries of porcelain history to life. From the new viewing platform 80 m above the Weser, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Weser valley and the border triangle. The castle courtyard has barrier-free access and displays interesting information about the history of the castle and manufactory through "historical windows".

The museum, which opened at the beginning of 2017 after extensive renovations, takes visitors on a journey through time from the beginnings of the FÜRSTENBERG porcelain manufactory in the mid-18th century through the different eras and styles, as well as the development of tableware.

As soon as they enter the impressive staircase, visitors are drawn into the spell of a modern museum world. The multimedia exhibition also regularly invites interaction at so-called hands-on stations, where touching is not only allowed, but expressly encouraged.

Located in one of the oldest rooms in the castle, visitors are surrounded by a mysterious atmosphere - like a treasure chamber. A central, seemingly endless glass cube fills the room, filled with over a thousand pieces of porcelain. Whether precious figurines from the 18th century, curious utensils from the 19th century or rare design icons from the 20th century - the Schaumagazin offers a veritable theatrum porcellanum. In addition, the famous Reichmann Collection can be seen in its entirety for the first time in the Schaumagazin. It is one of the most important and exquisite collections of historic FÜRSTENBERG porcelain.

In the museum's visitor workshop, the porcelain makers introduce visitors to the secrets of their craftsmanship at four workstations using small practical pieces. Those who wish can pick up a brush and paint themselves and create their own souvenir at a reasonable price.
