Pied Piper figures and carillon

Historical Sites
Musical highlight at the horse market.
Every day tourists wait at the horse market and look excitedly at the west gable of the historic wedding house. Because the tragic history of Hameln takes place here every day - in miniature format and with musical accompaniment.

The Pied Piper Figure Play is a highlight of every visit to Hameln. The bronze doors open daily at 13.05, 15.35 and 17.35 and the pied piper does his rounds. Spectators follow his story from drowning the rats to the disappearance of the children. The melody comes from Jürgen Langehein (1923-1992). The figures were designed by Harro Siegel (1900-1985) and executed by Walter Volland (1898-1980).

At 9.35 a.m. the carillon on the west gable of the building also sounds the Weser song and at 11.35 a.m. the pied piper song. In 1964, the carillon at the wedding house replaced the pied piper clock that was installed in the old town hall in 1934 and destroyed by the war on April 5, 1945.
