Schwalm-Touristik

Short facts

  • Schwalmstadt

Schwalmstadt a fairytale landscape with dreamy forests.

Ziegenhain became known through the "Ziegenhainer Kirchenzuchtordnung" as the birthplace of confirmation. Ziegenhain Castle is located in the middle of the fortress, surrounded by the historic water fortress. Today one of the most modern penal institutions in Germany stands on parts of this site.

The old town of Treysa is characterized by the imposing ruins of the Church of the Dead and numerous half-timbered houses. Let yourself be enchanted, stroll through the small alleys with the partially well-preserved city fortifications between the Church of the Dead and the Witches Tower. Numerous cultural events take place every year in the fairytale setting of the Church of the Dead.
