Main Cycle Route 07: Wolfhagen - Kassel
From Wolfhagen, follow the local cycle path signs via Istha and Balhorn to Bad Emstal-Sand and on to Schauenburg-Breitenbach. There you pass the "Märchenwache", a repurposed former fire station.

The cycle path, which is asphalted again, now follows the course of the "Hessencourier cycle path with the "Green Locomotive" logo to Großenritte. You then follow the path via the town park and the center of Bauna past the VW plant, where you pass the Knallhütte site. This is where Dorothea Viehmann was born, who told the Brothers Grimm more than 40 folk tales, 36 of which they included in their fairy tale collection.

Niederzwehren has a fairytale quarter with pretty half-timbered houses. Viehmann lived in this quarter from 1787 to 1815. A bust of the storyteller and a free-standing brick gate with the inscription "Once upon a time" can be found on the fairytale square by the Mattäuskirche church.
A walk along the Grunelbach stream is a recommended diversion before heading back through the Südstadt to the "Grimmwelt".

Picturesquely situated on the vineyard, the modern museum in yellow sandstone is located on the exposed grounds of the former Henschel villa. The stepped roof is accessible and very popular as a place to linger and enjoy the view. Inside, the museum provides information about the work and influence of the Brothers Grimm. Kassel was a formative station in their lives, as they worked here for almost 30 years as linguists and literary scholars and published the first volume of their Children's and Household Tales in 1812.

Kassel is a very green city. Unfortunately, it was pretty much destroyed in the war, but there are still beautiful old rows of houses from the Wilhelminian era and nice neighborhoods. The magnificent Orangerie is located in the meadows of the Fulda. Works of art in many parts of the city bear witness to its importance as a Documenta city. On the Wilhelmshöhe with the statue of Hercules, you have a fantastic view over the Bergpark and the city. In summer, the water features above the cascades offer an impressive spectacle that attracts many visitors from near and far. The classicist castle is located below the cascades.
