A visit to the Museum of Cultural History offers a special historical experience

The Museum of Cultural History at the Philipps University of Marburg offers not only encounters with numerous objects from cultural history, but also a tour of special, historic rooms in the castle.

The magnificent Fürstensaal is considered to be one of the most beautiful secular Gothic halls in Germany; the castle chapel, consecrated in 1288, impresses with its medieval frescoes and the multicolored interior design. On three floors of the Wilhelmsbau permanent exhibitions on the subjects of "Church Art", "State Rulership" and "Bourgeois Living" are set up. Important historical events took place in the Landgrave Castle of Marburg, for example the Marburg Religious Discussion between Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli and other reformers in 1529.

Since 1981 the castle has been developing as a museum into a place of cultural education.
