From the fairytale park, the cycle path runs along roads with little traffic and field paths through undulating countryside. The constant ups and downs challenge the cyclist. If you have electric assistance, you have an advantage. You will be rewarded by the fantastic panoramic views over the countryside. After the A 38 highway, there is a gravel section near Reinholterode. Before you reach Neuendorf, you have to be very careful on a downhill section due to the potholes. If you are unsure, you should push your bike for a while. Pedal through the forest to Böseckendorf and on via Immigerode to Duderstadt. The half-timbered ensemble in this small town is magnificent. Completely preserved, the town conveys a medieval townscape. The town hall is an absolute highlight.
Just a few kilometers away, you will pass the idyllic Seeburger See. This is a great place to take a break, as Seeburg also offers food and drink right by the lake. A stone's throw away is Ebergötzen with the famous Wilhelm Busch Mill. Busch spent his childhood years here with an uncle. He became friends with the miller's son. The two probably played many a prank together. In memory of his childhood, the mill served as a model for the Max and Moritz stories for which he also illustrated the pictures. If you like, Wilhelm Busch is the inventor of comics. Numerous testimonies from the artist's life and work are exhibited in the Busch Mill, which is still in working order.
Shortly before you reach Göttingen, you can drive up to Plesse Castle if you still have some energy left. From the top you have beautiful views over the Leine valley.
Göttingen is another important place in the lives of the Brothers Grimm. They taught at the local university from 1829 to 1837. The Gänselieselbrunnen fountain stands on the square in front of the old town hall. According to old custom, the statue of the girl is kissed by successful doctoral students. Göttingen also has a cozy old town with many places to stop for a bite to eat. The city is also a popular refuge for cyclists. This is particularly evident in the station forecourt, which is littered with hundreds of parked bikes.
