South of Göttingen railroad station, a gradual ascent on the Weser-Harz-Heide cycle path begins with the "Dransfelder Rampe" on a partly gravelled railroad line. If you look back, you have a special view of the Leine valley. After Dransfeld, a zigzag course begins as far as Imbsen and Löwenhagen.
The route then follows the tranquil wooded Niemetal valley on a country road with little traffic to Bursfelde, the monastery town where the Weser Cycle Path runs. In Oedelsheim, part of the municipality of Wesertal, there is a statue of Puss in Boots in the center of the village.
You can follow the Weser on both sides of the river. On the right-hand side of the river in Lippoldsberg is the former monastery church of St. George and Mary, which is well worth seeing. If you want to cross over in Wahmbeck, you can use the yaw rope ferry there.
This type of ferry does not have a motor, but uses the current of the river attached to ropes. The stage destination Bad Karlshafen is a former Huguenot town. The Huguenots who were expelled from France found a new home here. In the German Huguenot Museum on the harbor square, you can get a detailed overview of their expulsion from France and resettlement in Karlshafen with the help of books, pictures and objects. The listed baroque town center at the harbor with the town hall from 1715 is worth seeing.
