This stage follows the well-maintained and adequately signposted Weser Cycle Path, which leads to Würgassen on the right-hand side of the river. From this side, you have a beautiful view of the abbey and Herstelle Castle. Before the former nuclear power station, the route crosses a bridge to the other side of the river. From here, you cycle at a leisurely pace on a separate cycle path. The next town is Beverungen, where the Bever flows into the Weser. There is also a castle here, but only the high square tower with the southern extension remains. A few kilometers downstream is Fürstenberg. If you want to visit the famous porcelain factory and museum in the castle, you should take the ferry from Wehrden beforehand.
After half an hour, Höxter is in sight, a town with half-timbered houses worth seeing and remains of the former town wall. Just outside is Corvey Abbey, one of the five UNESCO World Heritage Sites in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Carolingian westwork on the monastery church in particular contributed significantly to the award of the title in 2014. The Weser Cycle Path now winds its way close to the Weser to Holzminden. To reach the town, you have to cross the Weser again. In addition to the Romanesque Luther Church, the pretty half-timbered houses are also eye-catching. The 18 scent stelae in the town center, which you can explore "always following your nose", are unique. There is also interesting information about the scents and aromas. This is why Holzminden is also known as the "city of fragrances", as one of the world's largest manufacturers of fragrances is based here.
There are places to stop for refreshments at the market square where thetourist information office is located.
