On August 22 and 23, 2026, Poller Burg will once again serve as the venue for the popular Fairy Tale and Legend Weekend. Families can look forward to a colorful and diverse program full of music, stories, and fairy-tale moments—and it’s all free of charge.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, August 22, at 6 p.m. with the popular Münchhausenspiel. After the welcome, Ronja Maltzahn & The BlueBird Orchestra will take guests on a musical journey with “THE WORLD NEEDS MORE ROBBER GIRLS,” bringing stories and poetry to life.
The musical poet and multi-instrumentalist creates a total work of art on stage. With dance-like grace, she moves from one instrument to the next, accompanied by her international musical family on cello, violin, ukulele, piano, bass, horn, synthesizers, and polyphonic vocals, while the Ukrainian artist Tetiana She Wolf creates a painting on a large easel and the dancer Lucia Peters weaves moving images into the summer air.
Of course, the universally beloved fairy-tale and legend characters—who enchant young and old alike—are a must-see part of this evening’s program. Whether it’s the graceful Cinderella, the venerable Count Otto von Everstein with his wife, the mysterious night watchman, the famous Pied Piper of Hamelin, or the incomparable Baron von Münchhausen—they all personally welcome the guests and whisk them away into their fascinating stories.
Look forward to an evening full of encounters, where the characters are not only within arm’s reach but also address the audience directly with personal performances and entertaining speeches. An unforgettable experience that uniquely combines tradition and the art of storytelling!
As twilight sets in, guests are treated to the highlight of the evening—full of glamour, emotion, and magnificent voices: With “Broadway Meets Fairy Tales,” the Brothers Grimm Festival Kassel presents a captivating gala that combines the fascinating world of musicals with the magic of timeless fairy tales. For years, the festival has been synonymous with successful, high-caliber musical productions on the lake stage in Schönfeld Park—now the most beautiful moments come together in an extraordinary gala format at the castle ruins in Polle.
From unforgettable classics to the latest musical hits, the audience can expect a diverse journey through the world of musical theater. With charming humor, moving emotions, and a multifaceted repertoire—ranging from soulful ballads and songs that make you dream to energetic party music—there’s something for every taste.
The second day of the event, Sunday, August 23, kicks off at 1 p.m. with a solo performance by Mr. Müller and His Guitar. The musician rummages through his handcart and finds the perfect song to go with every item he pulls out. A fun concert for kids and families, packed with entertainment and plenty of fun, is guaranteed.
Following that, a storyteller from the Vlotho Fairy Tale Stage will present entertaining fairy tale narrations for the whole family at 2:00 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., bringing the stories to life. At 3:00 p.m., the traditional Cinderella play at the Oberburg will be performed, enchanting fairy tale fans of all ages with the world-famous Brothers Grimm fairy tale.
Of course, refreshments will be available throughout the entire event weekend.
