Geboren wurde Wilhelm Busch am 15. April 1832 im niedersächsischen Wiedensahl, das heute an der Deutschen Märchenstraße liegt. Das beschauliche Dorf zwischen Weser und Steinhuder Meer blieb zeitlebens sein wichtigster Rückzugsort und seine größte Inspirationsquelle. Busch selbst schrieb:
„So gut wie alle meine Sachen sind in der Stille von Wiedensahl entstanden.“
Heute lädt das Wilhelm Busch Land dazu ein, den Künstler an seinen Originalschauplätzen kennenzulernen. Im Wilhelm-Busch-Geburtshaus erfahren Besucher mehr über seine Kindheit, sein Leben und seine berühmten Werke. Original eingerichtete Wohnräume, wechselnde Ausstellungen und eine moderne Präsentation geben einen lebendigen Einblick in sein Schaffen.
Nur wenige Schritte entfernt befindet sich das Alte Pfarrhaus, in dem Wilhelm Busch viele Jahre bei seiner Schwester lebte und arbeitete. Hier entstanden zahlreiche seiner bekanntesten Bildergeschichten. Heute zeigt das Museum neben persönlichen Erinnerungsstücken auch die Alltagsgeschichte des Schaumburger Landes.

Just a few steps away stands the Old Rectory, where Busch lived and worked with his sister for many years. Several of his best-known picture stories were created here.
