Since 2024, a colorful cultural and educational program has been offered in an extension of the Alte Johanneskirche in Hanau's old town: Concerts, cabaret, theater and readings take place here as well as, for example, a sustainability fair or markets. And all this in a historical setting: the medieval city wall of Hanau was incorporated into the west wall of the church when it was built in 1658; Gothic elements such as pointed arch windows and the choir characterize the building. If you would like to find out more about historical Hanau: a model from the workshop of Hanau master glazier Günter Jacob shows the old town before 1945. Shortened to the acronym AJOKI, the Alte Johanneskirche is now a cultural and educational space. Charming offer: In addition to the many events and VHS Hanau offers, the AJOKI Campus on the covered terrace is also a public place to learn, work and spend time. Here you can use free Wi-Fi and electricity and bring your own food and drinks.
