In 2003, a group of artists opened an artist-run gallery called GalerieN in downtown Nienburg.
Institutionally, the gallery operates under the umbrella of Kulturwerk. The spaces at Leinstraße 26 provide a permanent home for a regular, professional exhibition program featuring rotating exhibitions.
The gallery’s program is constantly evolving. The annual program now includes a community exhibition, a joint exhibition project at GalerieN and Kulturwerk, 3–4 exhibitions by external artists, and an equal number of group exhibitions featuring the gallery’s own artists. This initiative is supported by the Neuhoff-Fricke Foundation for Science and Art in Nienburg and through the generous cooperation of the building’s owners.
