Hanau Environmental Center

  • Info Centres
This house vividly shows how exciting nature is around Hanau and how important it is to protect it.
To the east of Hanau's city center, close to the Kinzig river, which flows around Hanau into the Main, this educational center makes you want to experience and protect the environment. It was founded in 2002 as part of the second Hessian State Garden Show; since then, courses, exhibitions and events, guided tours and workshops have brought the topic of sustainability to life: you can learn how to cook regionally, garden naturally or make your own cleaning products and natural cosmetics. Or you can discover nature along the Green Ring around Hanau or at Campo Pond - the former US Army training ground where the last surviving wild horses, the Przewalski's horses, graze today - with the guides from the environmental center. There are regular guided tours here - even at night when the bat colonies become active.
